Privacy at Shapedrop

In short

Shapedrop converts everything on your computer. Your files, their names and contents never leave it. There is no account, no advertising, no usage statistics and no cookies on shapedrop.app.

What Shapedrop sends over the internet

• License check (only with a license, at most once a week): license key, a random ID for this device, the device type (Mac or Windows PC). Purpose: providing the license and preventing misuse (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Recipient: our license service on Cloudflare.
• Update check: Shapedrop asks our update server whether a new version exists. As with any internet request, your IP address is transmitted (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – security and bug fixing).
• With your AI (only if you connect it yourself): the AI receives the results you request, e.g. recognized text. Your AI provider’s privacy policy governs what it does with them.

When you buy

Payment runs through Link (Stripe). Link is the seller and processes your payment data itself. Link gives us your name, email address and country so we can send your license key and help with questions (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We send the key email via Resend.

We store: license key, name, email address, language, Stripe purchase and payment IDs, activated devices (random ID and device type). We delete this data once it is no longer needed for the license and no legal retention duty applies.

Waitlist (before launch)

If you join the waitlist on shapedrop.app, we store your email address, language, where you came from (e.g. “tiktok” if the link says so) and the times of sign-up and confirmation. You first get an email to confirm (double opt-in); without confirmation nothing else is sent. Purpose: to tell you when Shapedrop launches (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, consent). You can unsubscribe any time via the link in every email; we then delete your entry immediately. We delete the whole waitlist no later than 12 months after launch. Processing at Cloudflare (storage) and Resend (sending).

• Resend (sending the key email)
• IONOS (support mailbox)

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Write to support@awasol.de.
